What inspired you to pursue writing/illustrating?

I was very lucky to have a creative mother who would sit with me on the beach and teach me to draw people and landscapes. Mermaids emerged, fairies danced, and my passion to illustrate the enchantment of books ignited.

 

What do you love most about the work you do?

It's amazing that I have the opportunity to create art and earn a living from it! It's a rarity for individuals to genuinely enjoy their jobs, but I consider myself fortunate to be among those few. The feeling of accomplishment is unparalleled when I hold in my hands the tangible result of countless hours of dedicated work, especially when that book is finally published.

 

What was your first job? Was it related to the work that you do now? 

My very first job was working as a waitress in a cafe at 16 years old in my old hometown of Herefordshire. It wasn't at all related to working as an illustrator and art lecturer, and I vowed ever since never to work with food again!

 

What’s your favourite thing to do in your free time, outside of work? Any hobbies or other interests?

In my free time, I enjoy exploring my passion for sustainable fashion by making my own clothes and rifling through charity shops. I also enjoy putting my hand to home DIY and exploring my interest in interior design. Essentially, you can find me doing anything creative!

 

Did you like reading as a child? If so, do you have a favourite childhood book?

I LOVED to read as a child and I have a few favourites but the Law of the Wolf Tower by Tanith Lee has always stood out to me.
