MORE ABOUT ME
What inspired you to pursue illustrating?
Books and drawing were always my passion. After years of struggling in a job that didn't fit me, I quit and started doing what I love most. The "game changer" was a creative workshop.
What do you love most about the work you do?
The children's book community is the loveliest community in the world. I meet and work with very interesting, friendly, and brilliant people - this is what I love most. Well, and the freedom, too!
What was your first job? Was it related to the work that you do now?
I was an architect. I studied architecture and worked in that job for 4 years.
What’s your favourite thing to do in your free time, outside of work? Any hobbies or other interests?
Definitely fitness, I'm a gym junkie! Also spending time with my family and reading.
Did you like reading as a child? If so, do you have a favourite childhood book?
Yes! I was a lucky child with lots of picture books! My favourites were fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen.
Marina's latest illustrated book with Hungry Tomato is the fantastic Dogs. A stunning book, full of character and fun, life-like illustrations of 100 brilliant breeds. With such engaging artwork, it’s sure to become a bookshelf favourite!
Look out for her next book Cats - coming in 2024!
