What inspired you to pursue writing/illustrating?

My grandad was a graphic designer who enjoyed painting in his free time. He was my biggest inspiration to start drawing and painting. 

 

What do you love most about the work you do?

It’s lovely to hold a finished book that you’ve worked on with a team of creative people. The very best bit is seeing a child reading it.

 

What was your first job? Was it related to the work that you do now? 

I worked in an art shop in Covent Garden after graduating. My first illustration jobs were editorial pieces for magazines and newspapers.

 

What’s your favourite thing to do in your free time, outside of work? Any hobbies or other interests?

I like walks in the countryside and following the ups and downs of the England men and women’s cricket teams.

 

Did you like reading as a child? If so, do you have a favourite childhood book?

I did! My favourite children’s books were Cops & Robbers by Allan and Janet Ahlberg, and Haunted House by Jan Pienkowski.
